David Daar has litigated a wide range of cases, several of which have been recognized as lead cases in American Law (American Law Reports ALR) in fields as diverse as the prosecution of civil lawsuits to the defense of white collar business offenses. His every day law practice takes him into fields of law where he serves as attorney in the longest of major litigations pending before California Courts to class action lawsuits and complex business disputes, insurance controversies and individual's legal problems. He labors daily in employee/employer litigation, regulation, and major litigation in the laws of disability, discrimination and other injuries.
As an author and speaker, his published works include the chapter, "Aviation Insurance Law" of the Matthew-Bender treatise, California Insurance Law, which is regularly relied upon by the legal profession. He has authored many articles on topics ranging from arbitration-mediation, aviation, antitrust compliance , class actions and methods for industry to avoid punitive damages. He was retained to develop programs to be used by industry to demonstrate good faith in the management of insurance claims. His works have been published at American Bar Association National Institutes and in insurance industry trade journals. Over the years David has served as a speaker at regional and national insurance industry conferences, such as the Property Loss Managers Conference and National Association of Independent Insurers. He is well-known as an authority on class action litigation and complex litigation, and has given presentations on prosecution and defense tactics in mass and class action lawsuits. Over two hundred fifty appellate decisions across the country cite to cases he has worked on in the field of class action lawsuits.
David served on the faculty of the National College of Advocacy, has lectured on trial tactics in federal securities litigation for the Practicing Law Institute and on anti-trust law at the National Institute of the American Bar Association. He has served on the Board of Directors and steering committees of numerous organizations, including as Chairman of the State Bar of California Committee on Federal Courts. At Loyola Law School David served on the Board of Governors. He has functioned in an advisory capacity developing the Rules of Court applicable to class action lawsuits. He has served as an advisor to the Institute for Corporate Counsel of a large California university. He served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Professional Helicopter Pilots Association of California and he is a licensed helicopter pilot. From time to time he has served as an active member of the International Insurance Association, Aviation Insurance Association, National Transportation Safety Board Bar and Association of Business Trial Lawyers.
